Kyungil University Selects Freshmen for Early Employment Contract Departments Linked to Corporate Jobs

Operating for 6 Years Since 2018
Employment Secured Upon Admission
Undergraduate and Master's Integrated Programs Also Offered Simultaneously

Kyungil University is selecting new students for its early employment-type contract department. Employment as a full-time employee is confirmed upon admission, and various scholarship benefits are available.


Starting from the 2024 academic year, Kyungil University, which has established the SMART Content College with a focus on 'content' as its main field, has been operating the early employment-type contract department leading university development project for six years in collaboration with local governments such as Gyeongsan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do. This project began in 2018 as part of youth job creation measures.


In particular, Kyungil University's early employment-type contract department is the first nationwide to receive support from local governments, reducing the burden on companies and students from 50% to 25% through subsidies from local governments.


This program, conducted as an undergraduate course, guarantees full-time employment upon admission and recruits freshmen by dividing majors into ▲Smart Factory Convergence ▲Smart Power Infrastructure ▲Smart Food Tech ▲Smart Management Engineering fields.


Kyungil University's early employment-type contract department has signed employment agreements with over 200 excellent local small and medium-sized enterprises such as Ajin Industry Co., Ltd., OKF Beverage Co., Ltd., and Hanjung NS Co., Ltd., fostering specialized personnel tailored to companies.


The early employment-type contract department curriculum has been operated as a program where students spend one year acquiring major knowledge at the university and two years combining study and work to cultivate fieldwork and research capabilities. In particular, the early employment-type contract department offers various scholarships, including the Hope Ladder Scholarship, reducing the tuition burden.


The comprehensive student record admission (early employment-type contract department) selects 50 students within the quota and 70 students outside the quota through a two-stage process: Stage 1 (7 times the number of applicants) is 100% comprehensive student record evaluation, and Stage 2 is 100% interview. There is no minimum CSAT score requirement, and the comprehensive student record evaluation uses both academic and extracurricular areas for a holistic assessment. The application period for early admission for the 2024 academic year is from the 11th to the 15th, the same as for general departments.

In June, Kyungil University was also selected for the early employment-type contract department leading university (graduate school) development project and is operating both undergraduate and graduate programs simultaneously. The graduate program for early employment-type contract departments, aimed at training advanced personnel in the semiconductor field, is divided into a 'combined bachelor's and master's degree program' and a 'master's degree program.'


The combined bachelor's and master's degree program selects third-year students or transfer students in their third year. Participants are guaranteed employment in their third year, attend master's courses during the first and second semesters of their fourth year, and combine work and study during the first and second semesters of the master's program, obtaining a master's degree within one year after graduating with a bachelor's degree.


The master's degree program is a three-semester course for those holding a bachelor's degree. Students attend classes only in the first semester and combine work and study in the second and third semesters, earning a master's degree in one and a half years. Both programs shorten the degree acquisition period compared to pursuing a master's degree after completing a bachelor's degree, and employment is guaranteed, allowing students to balance work and study.


Jung Hyun-tae, president of Kyungil University, said, “Kyungil University was the first in the nation to be selected for the Ministry of Education’s early employment-type contract department leading university development project in 2018. Since then, we have worked with local governments such as Gyeongsan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do to help students simultaneously solve university admission and early employment.” He added, “With the selection of the semiconductor graduate program, we will spare no support at the university level to align with the purpose and intent of this policy project.”
