Yongin City Installs Yellow Crosswalks Around All Elementary Schools

Mayor Sang-il Lee, "Promise to Complete by the First Half of Next Year"

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will install 'yellow crosswalks' around all elementary schools in the area by the first half of next year.

Yongin City announced on the 7th that Mayor Lee Sang-il recently held a meeting with members of the Yongin Western Green Mothers' Association and decided on this plan.

At the meeting, Mayor Lee promised to complete the installation of 'yellow crosswalks' in all elementary school child protection zones by the first half of 2024, following the request from the Yongin Western Green Mothers' Association to ensure the safe commute of children.

Yellow crosswalks are marked in yellow instead of the traditional white to help drivers recognize child protection zones and prevent traffic accidents involving child pedestrians. On July 4th, the government amended the Road Traffic Act Enforcement Rules to mandate the installation of yellow crosswalks within child protection zones.
