Attendance at the Korea-ASEAN AI Youth Festa Event
Consensus on the Need for Advanced Industry Cooperation in Korea-Indo-Pacific Region Countries
President Yoon Suk-yeol urged future generation cooperation between Korea and ASEAN in the AI and digital industry sectors on the 6th in Jakarta, Indonesia.
On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon attended the Korea-ASEAN AI Youth Festa event held at Telkom, Indonesia's state-owned telecommunications company, and held a "Dialogue with the Korea-ASEAN Future Generation," stating, "Innovation knows no borders. The government of the Republic of Korea wants to create innovation together with you, who have infinite potential."
This event is an official side event of the "ASEAN-India Pacific Forum," an official event of the 2023 ASEAN Summit. Both Korea and Indo-Pacific countries agreed on the necessity of future generation cooperation in advanced industries and organized this event to achieve joint prosperity through digital means and expand solidarity with ASEAN.
In particular, the event reflected the "Korea-ASEAN Digital Innovation Flagship Project," which was agreed to be promoted at this Korea-ASEAN summit. It symbolizes Korea and ASEAN achieving joint prosperity through digital means and expanding solidarity with ASEAN. This project is a five-year initiative from 2024 to 2028, worth a total of 30 million USD through the Korea-ASEAN Cooperation Fund, aiming to promote ▲ the creation of a joint data ecosystem ▲ strengthening digital human capabilities ▲ development of AI-based innovative services.

President Yoon said, "Through the 30 million USD digital innovation flagship project over the next five years, we will continuously hold AI development and startup competitions," and promised, "We will also establish digital capability enhancement schools in the 10 ASEAN countries to nurture talent." He added, "The innovation you create together will contribute not only to individual countries and ASEAN but also to the expansion of freedom and increased happiness for all humanity, as well as global prosperity," emphasizing, "The government of the Republic of Korea and I will wholeheartedly support your challenges and innovative ideas to spread worldwide, regardless of nationality or borders."
According to the presidential office, 132 teams composed of young entrepreneurs and youth from ASEAN competed in the "AI Pitching Contest," held as part of idea discovery through this event, and three final winners were selected on site. President Yoon also introduced plans to support young innovators from Korea and ASEAN countries, including the AI pitching contest winning teams, Indonesian students studying AI in Korea, and young Korean entrepreneurs who have entered ASEAN, to help their innovative ideas spread worldwide.
Before the main event, President Yoon visited booths of Korean companies discovering ASEAN cooperation partners in fields such as AI semiconductors and digital healthcare. After receiving explanations at the AI semiconductor company booth, President Yoon encouraged them by saying, "Grow your company bigger and make it a large company."
