Establishing a Local Youth Soccer Education Platform
Gohung County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Gong Young-min) announced on September 5th that the second half of the Cha Bum-kun Soccer School has started at the Gohung Sports Park.
The opening training, conducted as a joint session, involved four professional head coaches from Seoul and former national team coach Cha Bum-kun personally participating to guide the children.
The children, returning after a break during the peak summer heat, could not answer the coach's question about whether they had trained individually during the break, which brought laughter. A humorous incident also occurred where some children had grown so quickly over two months that their uniforms were too small to wear properly while playing.
A representative from Team Chaboom stated, “We combined the shortcomings identified during the first half training with the children’s requests to create a more structured program. We will do our best to complete the program as passionately as the children have shown.”
The second half schedule, which will run for 18 sessions over 11 weeks, is expected to offer children great enjoyment with more diverse and new programs.
County Governor Gong Young-min encouraged, “Seeing such passionate children despite the hot weather makes me feel that Gohung’s future is very bright. I hope they work hard and become excellent players like Coach Cha Bum-kun.”
A participating parent expressed satisfaction with the training, saying, “Watching the children play with the ball makes me feel very happy, and if it is held again next year, I definitely want to apply again.”
Meanwhile, Gohung County was the first basic local government nationwide to sign a business agreement with the Cha Bum-kun Soccer School. The school was founded on April 25th and has been operating with 85 participants selected from inside and outside the county.
