Kim Un-Young, Former Hospital Director, Donates 50 Million Won to Korea University Ansan Hospital
"Hope to Spread a Culture of Donation Appreciating Medical Staff"

Korea University Ansan Hospital announced on the 6th that it received a development fund donation of 50 million KRW from the family of Professor Kim Un-Young, an anesthesiology and pain medicine specialist who served as the hospital director during its 18th and 19th terms.

This donation was made in the names of Professor Kim Un-Young's late father, the late Kim Yong-Chul, and late mother, the late Kang Jong-Rye. The donors, Mr. Kim and Ms. Kang, passed away due to old age at Korea University Ansan Hospital in January and December 2020, respectively.

The donation will be used for future medical research and development as well as the establishment of infectious disease prevention infrastructure.

The donation ceremony was attended by Kwon Soon-Young, director of Korea University Ansan Hospital, Lee Joo-Han, deputy director of research, and other officials, along with Professor Kim Un-Young and his family representative, his second son Kim Taek-Joong, vice chairman of OCI.

Professor Kim said, "I hope this donation will serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of gratitude towards medical staff for their treatment at Ansan Hospital," adding, "I hope it will contribute even a little to the development of Ansan Hospital."

Director Kwon expressed, "We deeply thank the two donors who practiced sharing," and said, "We will do our best to meet the expectations and support sent by the donors and their families."

Professor Kim Un-Young graduated from Korea University College of Medicine in 1989 and completed his master's and doctoral degrees at the same university's graduate school. In January 2020, he was appointed as the first female hospital director in the history of Korea University Medical Center, and the hospital stated that he was recognized for responding steadily to the COVID-19 pandemic and elevating the hospital's status through business agreements with related organizations.
