Display Association Launches Consortium Ceremony to Promote Carbon Neutral R&D Expansion

The Korea Display Industry Association announced on the 5th that it held the launch ceremony of the 'Semiconductor and Display Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Group Grand Consortium' to promote the research and development (R&D) dissemination and expansion of carbon neutrality in the semiconductor and display industries. The event was attended by over 200 businesspeople, including Jang Young-jin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Kang Ki-won, Director of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, to discuss consortium cooperation plans.

At the Grand Consortium kickoff meeting, the association began by introducing the Display Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Group Grand Consortium, explaining the consortium operation plan and guidelines, and presenting the promotion system and strategies to activate operations. Through the consortium, the association plans to support smooth exchanges between companies developing display carbon reduction technologies and demand companies, and share achievements so that companies not participating in technology development can also utilize carbon neutrality technologies.


Additionally, the association will identify regulatory improvements and support systems necessary for the development of display carbon neutrality technologies, establish a close network among industry, academia, and research institutes in the display sector to share information and data, and serve as a communication channel.


Lee Dong-wook, Vice Chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association, stated, “Carbon neutrality is a core technology of the global supply chain,” adding, "As the operating organization of the Display Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Group, the association will monitor regulatory trends and take the lead in resolving industry difficulties so that our companies do not face challenges in targeting overseas markets due to environmental regulations.
