Through a Joint Statement, Opposition to Hosting Expressed
Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) once again declared on the 4th, through a joint statement with the Gohung-gun Council (Chairman Lee Jae-hak), that there is absolutely no intention to host the Gwangju Military Airport, reaffirming the stance made in 2020.
Through this statement, Gohung-gun and the Gohung-gun Council announced, "The reclaimed land of Gohung Bay is a place concentrated with future aviation such as drone demonstration complexes and advanced smart farm infrastructure for agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. We will foster the entire area of Gohung Bay reclaimed land as a hub for regional new growth industries and make bold project advancements so that the residents can feel the maximum results. All residents, expatriates, and public officials will unite and do their best efforts."
They added, "We hope there will be no more wasteful debates regarding the relocation of the Gwangju Military Airport," clearly expressing their opposition to hosting the Gwangju Military Airport.
