Daegu City Council Holds 11-Day Extraordinary Session... Reviews 34 Agenda Items Including Ordinance Proposals

The Daegu Metropolitan Council (Chairman Lee Mankyu) will hold the 303rd extraordinary session for 11 days from the 5th to the 15th, commencing legislative activities including the review of 34 agenda items such as the "Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Cost Estimation of Daegu City Proposals" and on-site visits.


During this session, the Daegu Metropolitan Council will deliberate on a total of 34 agenda items, including 26 proposed and amended ordinances and 8 consent items.

The proposed and amended ordinances scheduled for review include the Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Installation of Firefighting Facilities in Daegu City Housing (Councilor Lim Inhwan, Jung-gu 1), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Separate Contracting of Firefighting Facility Construction for Daegu City Public Works (Councilor Ryu Jongwoo, Buk-gu 1), Complete Amendment to the Ordinance on Support for the Daegu Autonomous Crime Prevention Association (Councilor Park Woo-geun, Nam-gu 1), Ordinance on Support for Cancer Patients’ Wig Purchase Expenses in Daegu City (Councilor Kim Tae-woo, Suseong-gu 5), Ordinance on Support for Lifelong Education for Borderline Intellectual Disability in Daegu City (Councilor Hwang Sunja, Dalseo-gu 3), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Installation and Operation of Funeral Facilities in Daegu City (Councilor Lee Jaesook, Dong-gu 4), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Support for Prevention of Secondhand Smoke Damage in Daegu City (Councilor Ha Byungmoon, Buk-gu 4), Ordinance on Activation and Support for Barefoot Walking in Daegu City Urban Parks (Councilor Lee Taeson, Dalseo-gu 4), Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Reduction and Management of Fine Dust in Daegu City (Councilor Park Jongpil, People Power Party Proportional Representative), Ordinance on Establishment and Operation of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport Construction Fund (Councilor Kim Jiman, Buk-gu 2), Partial Amendment to the Daegu City Building Ordinance (Councilor Kim Daehyun, Seo-gu 1), Partial Amendment to the Basic Housing Ordinance in Daegu City (Councilor Heo Siyoung, Dalseo-gu 2), Ordinance on Support for Borderline Intellectual Disability Students by Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Councilor Lee Jaehwa, Seo-gu 2), Ordinance on Promotion of Mental Health for Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Staff (Councilor Lee Youngae, Dalseo-gu 1), and Ordinance on Activation of Population Education in Schools by Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Councilor Jeon Kyungwon, Suseong-gu 4), among others, covering various fields proposed by council members.


At the 1st plenary session held at 10 a.m. on the 5th, following the opening ceremony, various agenda items for session operation will be resolved, and after the plenary session, all council members will visit the Daegu International Shooting Range to discuss ways to revitalize operations linked to hosting international competitions and the tourism industry.


At the 2nd plenary session held at 2 p.m. on the 6th, three administrative questions will be raised, including "Is the Daegu-ro Pay ultimately a breach of trust causing procedural disregard, agreement disregard, and citizen inconvenience?" (Councilor Yuk Jungmi, Democratic Party Proportional Representative), construction of a connecting road network to the new airport in Gunwi County, establishment of an animal crematorium, and conversion to an aviation specialized high school (Councilor Park Changseok, Gunwi County), as well as four 5-minute free speeches including calls for measures to prevent indiscriminate heinous crimes targeting the general public (Councilor Park Woo-geun, Nam-gu 1), urging expansion of firefighting personnel and resources following Gunwi County’s incorporation (Councilor Ryu Jongwoo, Buk-gu 1), advancing the textile industry by seizing the opportunity of transition to a circular economy (Councilor Lee Youngae, Dalseo-gu 1), and urging coexistence measures related to Gunwi County’s incorporation (Councilor Yoon Gwongeun, Dalseo-gu 5).


From the 7th to the 14th, each standing committee will review agenda items and visit various administrative sites to directly hear the voices of citizens and the field, carefully examining the progress of administrative initiatives.


On the 15th at 10 a.m., the 3rd plenary session will be held, where two 5-minute free speeches will be delivered, including urging the establishment of an active support system to resolve social reclusive isolation (Councilor Lee Seong-o, Suseong-gu 3) and urging the establishment of an active health care system to alleviate emergency room overcrowding (Councilor Ha Byungmoon, Buk-gu 4). Following this, agenda items approved by each standing committee will be processed, concluding the 303rd extraordinary session.
