Securing 5 Billion KRW in National Funds for Renovation of Aging Residential Areas and Expansion of Shared Facilities
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, participated as the representative of Gyeongbuk Province in the 2023 Urban Regeneration Project contest conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in April, and as a result, Namseok-ri in Yeongdeok-eup was finally selected as the target site for the 'Uri Dongnae Salligi' project.
'Uri Dongnae Salligi' is an urban revitalization project aimed at improving residential environments, enhancing urban landscapes, revitalizing alleys, and supporting vulnerable residents by expanding convenience facilities and shared-use facilities in old small-scale residential areas.
In preparing for this contest project, Yeongdeok-gun steadily established plans based on residents' opinions, including the establishment of the Yeongdeok-gun Urban Regeneration Strategic Plan in 2018, hosting Urban Regeneration Universities in 2019 and 2021, and conducting a preliminary urban regeneration project in Yeongdeok-eup in 2022. After two attempts at the contest, it was finally selected.
With this selection, Yeongdeok-gun will invest a budget of 8.85 billion KRW, including 5 billion KRW in national funds, from 2024 to 2027 for projects such as home repair support, maintenance of aging alleys, parking lot maintenance and expansion, establishment of the Mandeuso Center, and strengthening residents' capabilities in the Namseok-ri area of Yeongdeok-eup.
County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol said, “Through the Uri Dongnae Salligi project, we will do our best to revitalize Namseok-ri in Yeongdeok-eup and create a livable residential environment so that it can establish itself as a wellness urban space.”
