On the 2nd at 2 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the launch ceremony of the ‘Nowon Carbon Neutrality 2050 Residents' Assembly’ held at the multipurpose auditorium on the 5th floor of the Nowon District Health Center.
The ‘Residents' Assembly,’ a public-private council for carbon neutrality practice, consists of residents interested in carbon neutrality who form subcommittees by activity fields such as religious groups, cooperatives, youth, environmental instructors, and resident autonomy. Through this launch ceremony, they plan to begin full-scale activities.
The launch ceremony included sharing the operational direction of the Residents' Assembly and conducting roundtable discussions on carbon neutrality practice tasks by subcommittee with the help of a professional facilitator. After the discussions, each subcommittee presented their commitments to practice and future activity plans.
The ‘Residents' Assembly’ plans to continue various carbon neutrality practice activities led by Nowon residents through ▲individual subcommittee practice activities and ▲joint projects among all subcommittees.
In June, the district established and announced the ‘2050 Carbon Neutral City Promotion Plan,’ a systematic implementation plan toward a carbon-neutral Nowon City, setting a common goal of achieving ‘Net-zero’ by 2050. Through the activities of the Residents' Assembly, the district aims to establish a culture of carbon neutrality practice among all residents.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “Carbon neutrality is a global challenge that we all must undertake together and can no longer postpone,” adding, “I ask for the voluntary participation of all residents in the various practice movements centered on the Residents' Assembly.”
