Earn an Additional 7% Rewards When Paying at 146 Franchise Stores
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it will support an additional 7% accumulation on the local currency 'Osaekjeon' starting from the 11th to promote seafood consumption.
This additional support aims to assist local small business owners following the decline in seafood consumption due to the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan into the ocean.
Consumers will receive a total accumulation benefit of 17%, including the existing 10% accumulation when charging the local currency. When payment is made at 146 pre-selected seafood specialty franchise stores, an additional 7% accumulation will be applied, and this will operate until the budget is exhausted. Eligible franchise stores can be checked by clicking on the ‘Seafood Consumption Promotion Card News’ in the Gyeonggi Local Currency app.
A city official stated, “We will strive to manage safety so that citizens can consume our seafood with confidence and promote seafood consumption to prevent the local economy from stagnating.”
Meanwhile, Osan City has separately organized a special safety inspection team composed of public officials from relevant departments of the city hall and honorary inspectors. Starting with Osaek Market on September 6, the inspection team plans to conduct weekly inspections until the end of September at about 120 locations including large marts and seafood manufacturing, processing, and handling businesses within the jurisdiction.
