NAND Flash Prices Expected to Remain Stable Through September
Prices of DRAM for PCs have continued to decline since April. However, there are forecasts that prices of the latest product, Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) DRAM, may rise in the fourth quarter.
Market research firm DRAMeXchange announced on the 31st that the fixed transaction price (contract price between companies) of DDR4 DRAM (8Gb 1Gx8) used for PCs recorded $1.30 this month, down 2.99% from the previous month.
The price of this product has been falling for five consecutive months since April. The decline seemed to narrow in April (-19.89%), May (-3.45%), June (-2.86%), and July (-1.47%), but the rate of decline increased again this month.
DDR5 DRAM avoided a price drop. Market research firm TrendForce explained that the PC DDR5 market inventory is at a low level, stating, "The average selling price (ASP) of 8GB DDR5 PC DRAM modules this month is $15.3, the same as the previous month."
It also forecasted that in the fourth quarter, "(DRAM) suppliers will transition to advanced processes, gradually increasing DDR5 product margins," and "DDR5 fixed transaction prices may rise 0-5% compared to the previous quarter."
The fixed transaction price of NAND flash for memory cards and USBs (128Gb 16Gx8) is $3.82 this month. It has maintained the same price since April. TrendForce predicted, "The fixed transaction price in September will be at a similar level to this month."
