September 31 to September 9, Busan Transportation Corporation Website, Pink Light Design Preference Survey
From January Next Year, Pink Light Function Enhancement Project... Operation System and Management Improvements
Busan City will conduct a design preference survey for the pregnancy priority seat notifier 'Pink Light' from the 31st until September 9.
This survey is being conducted to actively reflect citizens' opinions on the design of the new Pink Light transmitters and receivers improved through the '2023 Pink Light Function Enhancement Project.'
Busan City first piloted Pink Light on the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit section in 2016, the first of its kind nationwide.
Currently, a total of 576 Pink Lights are installed on Busan Metro Lines 1 to 4, starting with Line 3 in 2017.
The preference survey is conducted through various media including Busan City, Busan Transportation Corporation, and the Dagachi Kiwoom website. The survey consists of three items: ▲Receiver design ▲Mobile app design ▲Collection of opinions on Pink Light.
Based on the results of this preference survey, the city plans to select the Pink Light transmitter and receiver designs and begin full-scale production, installation, and testing starting January next year.
Building on the know-how gained from the Pink Light project so far, the '2023 Pink Light Function Enhancement Project' has improved the operation system of Pink Light transmitters and receivers and enhanced management convenience. A key feature is that Pink Light can be activated via a mobile app without directly carrying the transmitter (beacon).
Pregnant women can use Pink Light simply by installing the app without having to visit a health center to receive the transmitter (beacon).
The receiver’s design and functions have been improved and are planned to be linked with the mobile app.
For this Pink Light function enhancement project, the city has been collaborating with Busan Transportation Corporation since last year to discuss the production and installation of prototype display-type Pink Light receivers inside the new trains of Line 1, which will be introduced sequentially in the future.
At the 2023 Busan International Railway Technology Industry Exhibition, improvement plans for the new Pink Light function enhancement project were derived.
Through this, it is expected that various campaigns and promotions related to pregnancy consideration policies can be continuously displayed inside Busan Metro trains.
Additionally, after installation, various promotions and campaigns will be conducted to encourage citizens’ interest and participation for early-stage pregnant women.
As the importance of various policies for pregnant women continues to grow, and the Pink Light project is gradually expanding to other cities such as Daejeon Metro, expectations are rising that the Pink Light level will be further enhanced through this Busan City Pink Light function enhancement project.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Through the Pink Light function enhancement, we expect to build a big data-based foundation that provides new designs and convenient functions to gain more attention from citizens and further offer Busan-style pregnancy and childbirth policies.” He added, “We ask for the citizens’ great interest so that Busan can become a city where it is good to give birth and raise children by creating a childbirth-friendly environment that considers pregnant women.”
