The KOSPI closed higher amid expectations of easing tightening measures in the United States.
On the 30th, the KOSPI recorded 2,561.22, up 9.06 points (0.35%) from the previous trading day.
Weak economic indicators such as U.S. job openings and consumer sentiment index led to a decline in U.S. Treasury yields. This was interpreted as a positive factor for the domestic stock market, raising hopes that the U.S. might end its tightening policy.
By investor type, individuals and foreigners sold net amounts of 178.3 billion KRW and 16.4 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, institutions bought a net amount of 176.8 billion KRW.
By sector, chemicals rose 1.27%, while securities, machinery, and services saw slight increases. On the other hand, insurance and distribution sectors fell more than 1%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 67,100 KRW, up 300 KRW (0.45%) from the previous trading day. LG Chem and Samsung SDI rose 2.86% and 1.68%, respectively. Conversely, POSCO Holdings, NAVER, and POSCO Future M declined slightly.
On this day, 462 stocks, including DY and Isu Specialty Chemical, rose on the KOSPI. 398 stocks fell without hitting the lower limit, and 73 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ recorded 923.81, up 7.57 points (0.83%) from the previous trading day.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions bought net amounts of 228.1 billion KRW and 16.2 billion KRW, respectively. Conversely, individuals sold a net amount of 234.3 billion KRW.
By sector, information devices rose 4.33%, while semiconductors and computer services increased more than 2%. Dongshin Equipment, publishing and reproduction, internet, and communication services also rose more than 1%. On the other hand, general electric electronics fell 2.18%.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro closed at 1,248,000 KRW, up 27,000 KRW (2.21%) from the previous trading day. HPSP and Alteogen rose more than 2%, and POSCO DX and Kakao Games rose more than 1%. Conversely, L&F fell 7.40%, and SM and EcoPro BM declined 2.40% and 1.82%, respectively.
On the KOSDAQ, eight stocks including Codaco, RF Semi, and Lanix hit the upper price limit. 517 stocks declined without hitting the lower limit, and 90 stocks remained unchanged.
