The first newborn baby of the year was born in Deokgok-myeon, the least populated area in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk.
On the 30th, Deokgok-myeon, Goryeong-gun, announced that Hyunjun, the second son of Jeon Gilsang (39) and Kim Taeyeon (34), who live in Huam 1-ri, was born on the 7th of last month and his birth was registered at the Deokgok-myeon office four days later.
Hyunjun is the first baby born in Deokgok-myeon, Goryeong-gun this year. Although 16 people have died in Deokgok-myeon this year, there has been only one birth. Last year, three babies were born throughout the year.
Among the eight eup and myeon with a population of 30,206 in Goryeong-gun, Deokgok-myeon has the smallest population with 1,418 residents, of whom only 63 are under 18 years old, accounting for just 4.4% of the total. Because of this, the attached kindergarten was closed in March.
Lee Seonggi, head of Deokgok-myeon, Goryeong-gun, said, “This is a very great event for our myeon. We sincerely congratulate the birth of the child and will make many efforts to create an environment where the child can grow up happily and healthily.”
