Songpa-gu Holds Resident Participation-Type 'Songpa Welfare Expo'

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will hold the 24th Social Welfare Day commemorative event, the resident participation-type 'Songpa Welfare Expo,' on September 2nd at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park.

Especially this year, under the theme "Into the Residents, Into Welfare," 55 welfare facilities and institutions in the local community and 9 resident clubs will participate through public-private cooperation to directly operate various exhibition, experience, and promotional booths.

This expo, hosted by Songpa-gu and the Songpa-gu Community Security Council, is an event to commend social welfare workers and residents who have contributed to the development of welfare in Songpa, and to guide residents on Songpa's welfare services in eight areas including children and youth, women, the elderly, the disabled, jobs and housing, and health care.

First, at 3 p.m. on the day, the event will open with a Social Welfare Day commemorative ceremony and the welfare expo with residents. The ceremony will include the reading of the Social Welfare Business Ethics Declaration, commendation of social welfare contributors, and congratulatory performances.

Following that, from 4:30 p.m., there will be a performance showcasing the talents and skills of residents. Seven local resident teams composed of Songpa citizens, including the Philos Choir from the Seoul Blind Welfare Center, Silver Nantas from the Songpa Senior Welfare Center, and the cheering squad from Korea National Sport University, will participate. Additionally, folk singer Yoon Seol-hee (Nondureong Batdureong) will perform on stage.

At the expo venue, a 'Joint Bazaar' involving 10 welfare institutions will be held. Clothing, toys, shoes, and other items will be sold, and the proceeds will be used to promote the project 'Filling the Shopping Basket for Single-Person Households in Welfare Blind Spots.' For this purpose, SNS fundraising is underway through 'Kakao Together Value.'

Experience activities include a 'Bicycle Self-Maintenance Workshop' where participants can directly repair bicycles, making personalized holders using paintings by people with developmental disabilities, learning new sports health exercises, and the sensory-satisfying 'Making Oranda' activity.

Exhibition booths such as the 'Global Environmental Campaign' with Good Neighbors and the 'Multicultural World Travel' by the Multicultural Family Center will also be set up. Additionally, a camping car consultation center will operate, and the Donghaeng Bokultari Federation will set up a promotional zone for special projects in the district, adding fun by selling nostalgic old-style iced coffee and glutinous rice cakes.

Through this event, the district plans to introduce Songpa's unique welfare services to enhance residents' understanding and provide tailored welfare system guidance as needed.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "I hope the 'Songpa Welfare Expo' will be an opportunity for local residents to enjoy performances together and share various welfare information of Songpa," and added, "We will continue to discover and expand more closely connected welfare services for residents and actively strive for welfare administration without blind spots."
