Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced on the 28th that during lunchtime, the mayor and director-level executives tasted and inspected the Donghaeng lunchboxes provided to low-income elderly residents.
The Donghaeng lunchboxes provided to the staff were made at the 'Donghaeng (Dongdaemun-gu Happiness) Lunchbox Workshop,' established in May this year to provide high-quality meals to the elderly. The lunchboxes were the same as those delivered to elderly residents in the area on that day.
The food delivered by the Donghaeng Lunchbox Workshop staff at lunchtime was contained in hygienic and safe 'insulated stainless steel lunchbox containers' that maintained taste and temperature.
Mayor Ilpyeong Lee and the director-level executives were impressed by the generous portions of the lunchboxes and praised the food for being tasty without being salty.
Mayor Ilpyeong Lee of Dongdaemun-gu said, "It was a meaningful time to personally try the lunchboxes that the elderly receive," adding, "We will continue to pay attention to the quantity and quality management of the lunchboxes and focus on food safety and prevention of food poisoning to provide high-quality lunchboxes to the elderly."
In May of this year, the district established the 'Donghaeng Lunchbox Workshop,' the first of its kind in Seoul, and in July, increased the lunchbox support cost by adding 2,000 KRW from the district budget to the basic meal cost of 4,000 KRW supported by the city. These efforts aim to provide high-quality lunchboxes. Currently, 48 elderly residents receive Donghaeng lunchbox support, and the number of beneficiaries is planned to expand to 112 starting in September. The district plans to continue quality management through ongoing monitoring of the lunchboxes in the future.
