The organizing committee of the Seomjingang Film Festival in Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk, has unveiled the official poster and program for the ‘2nd Seomjingang Film Festival,’ which opens on the 14th of next month.
According to the county on the 28th, this year’s poster is a work titled ‘Seomjingang Nostalgia’ by artist and resident Park Jin-young from the Seomjingang Artist Village. It abstractly expresses, through a painterly language, the large and small fleeting changes that occur as the water flow, light, and wind of the Sunchang Seomjingang interact, capturing the emotions and resonance gifted by nature.
The committee set the slogan as ‘OUR HAPPY TIME’ to hope that through this film festival, audiences and residents can share a connection, and that these beautiful moments become the start of someone’s dream and the moment it bears fruit.
This year’s festival is organized around four thematic flows?Tong (通), Hap (合), Ryu (流), and Maek (脈)?based on the image of the Seomjingang waterway forming a large river that meanders.
The first, ‘Cinema Talk: Tong (通),’ is a time for communication where directors and audiences watch films together and share interpretations. The second, ‘With Cinema: Hap (合),’ is a screening session where films reflecting our lives can be comfortably enjoyed.
The third, ‘Korean Feature Competition: Ryu (流),’ is a newly introduced feature competition section this year, symbolizing the search for new trends in Korean cinema. The fourth, ‘Korean Short Film Invitation: Maek (脈),’ will cover the past, present, and future, providing a moment to trace the vein of films made in the region.
Baek Hak-gi, chairman of the Seomjingang Film Festival organizing committee, said, “The 2nd Seomjingang Film Festival will be prepared so that anyone who loves films can connect and communicate through various programs, just like the water flow of Seomjingang that embodies the values of empathy and harmony.”
Choi Young-il, the county governor, said, “We will strive to enhance cultural enjoyment satisfaction through diverse programs for all visitors to the Seomjingang Film Festival, making it a festival that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can enjoy.”
Meanwhile, the 2nd Seomjingang Film Festival will be held for three days from the 14th to the 16th of next month at the lawn square of Sunchang County Office. For more details, please refer to the official website.
