Jeong Changhyun: "The Result of Continuous Innovation"
The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development (President Jeong Changhyun) has been selected as an excellent institution (Grade A) in the ‘2022 Management Performance Evaluation of Other Public Institutions’ organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The institute has received an A grade for three consecutive years since the 2020 management performance evaluation. In particular, for this year’s (2022) results, it achieved the highest overall score among 17 institutions evaluated, based on a comprehensive assessment of both quantitative and qualitative indicators.
The 2022 management performance evaluation marks the first results reflecting the new government’s public institution policy direction, with an increased emphasis on financial performance indicators such as productivity and efficiency in the existing evaluation criteria.
In the field of management, the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development was highly rated for its innovative efforts to enhance productivity, such as integrating the regionally dispersed system for fostering the Korean medicine industry in line with changes in business conditions and government innovation plans, and restructuring the organization to focus on core functions.
In addition, major projects such as fostering an innovative ecosystem through digital transformation and the provision of a shared platform in the Korean medicine sector, as well as efforts to enhance public trust by establishing a comprehensive safety management system for herbal medicine, also received positive evaluations.
Jeong Changhyun, President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, stated, “Being selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in the management performance evaluation, in such a short period since our establishment, is the result of the innovative efforts and continuous communication of not only our staff and board of directors but also stakeholders participating in our projects through various channels. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance public value and efficiency through trusted institutional management and strive to develop into a globally recognized institution that promotes a sustainable Korean medicine industry.”
