G2 Power is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by news that the SMR (Small Modular Reactor) orders, worth up to 4 trillion won, are becoming visible on the US mainland for the first time under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
As of 10:54 AM on the 28th, G2 Power is trading at 10,290 won, up 7.64% compared to the previous day.
According to the industry on the previous day, Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Holtec, a US nuclear power plant design and manufacturing company, are set to begin construction of SMRs, which are gaining attention as next-generation nuclear power plants, on the US mainland in 2026. The goal is to complete within three years and start power generation by 2029, with the order size expected to exceed 4 trillion won.
Holtec is a global company holding more than 100 patents in key areas related to nuclear power plant design, materials, and manufacturing. It ranks first worldwide in the spent nuclear fuel storage facility market share and first in the US market share for nuclear power plant decommissioning projects. Based on its related technological capabilities, it is developing the 160MW (megawatt) class pressurized water reactor type small modular reactor 'SMR-160'.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction is responsible for the nuclear power plant construction. In November 2021, Hyundai Engineering & Construction signed a Teaming Agreement with Holtec for joint development and business entry into SMR. According to the agreement, Hyundai Engineering & Construction is in charge of detailed design of the SMR secondary system and nuclear power plant construction.
Meanwhile, established in 2010, G2 Power is a smart grid information technology (IT) solution specialist company. Based on condition monitoring diagnosis technology (CMD), it provides industrial facility IT solutions such as switchgear vulnerable to electrical safety accidents, solar power generation systems, and energy storage systems (ESS).
