A Man in His 50s Arrested for Knife Rampage in Gyeongbuk... 4 Injured and Dead

"Felt uncomfortable as the group shared a table with the adjacent one"

A man in his 50s, intoxicated, went on a stabbing rampage at a restaurant, resulting in the death of one customer and injuries to three others.


According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency on the 28th, a man in his 50s identified as Mr. A was arrested on the spot on suspicion of wielding a weapon against customers (including murder) at a pub in Wonje-ri, Geumho-eup, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk, around 11:22 p.m. the previous day.

Mr. B (60), a customer at a neighboring table, was stabbed in the chest and transported to the hospital but died. Three others, a man and two women who were seated with Mr. B, sustained serious injuries to their shoulders, wrists, and left arms from the stabbing.


Mr. A told the police that he felt upset because a woman in her 50s from his group sat together with customers at the adjacent table. It was also found that Mr. A went home to retrieve the weapon during his drinking session before committing the crime.


The police arrived within 10 minutes of the report and arrested Mr. A on the spot, placing him in a detention center.


The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after further investigation of Mr. A.
