"Emphasizing Cooperation to Practice Freedom and Solidarity through Cultural Exchange"
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Park Bo-gyun, hereinafter referred to as MCST) announced on the 27th that it introduced South Korea's cultural policy direction at the G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting held on the 26th (local time) in Varanasi, India, and emphasized inter-country cooperation to practice freedom and solidarity.

At the meeting, MCST shared excellent cases of Korean cultural policies, including ▲training of content professionals and policy financial support ▲strengthening copyright protection for creators ▲priority purchase system for creative works produced by artists with disabilities.
It also emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in building mutual understanding and trust between countries and pledged to share and practice universal human values such as freedom and solidarity with the international community through culture.
At this G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting, countries shared policies and discussed cooperation measures on topics such as ▲protection and return of cultural heritage ▲utilization of living heritage for a sustainable future ▲use of digital technology to promote and protect cultural creative industries and the creative economy. The discussion results were adopted as a chair’s summary under the chairmanship of India, the host country.
After the meeting, Yoo Byung-chae, Director of the Culture and Arts Policy Office at MCST, held a meeting with Govind Mohan, Deputy Minister of Culture of India, to discuss ways to expand cultural cooperation between the two countries, including cultural events commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, establishment of a content business center in India, and UNESCO heritage registration.
Additionally, he requested support from each country for the bid to host the ‘2030 Busan World Expo.’
Director Yoo said, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with the international community and global citizens based on K-Culture," adding, "We plan to expand cultural events with India, which marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, and open a content business center in New Delhi in the second half of the year to broaden the horizon of exchanges between the two countries."
