Munheon-il, Guro District Mayor, Meets Won Hee-ryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, on the 25th to Deliver a Proposal in Person
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) has submitted a joint petition to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport requesting practical improvements regarding the plan to reform the cash support method for the airport noise countermeasure project.
On the morning of the 25th, Moon Heon-il, Mayor of Guro-gu, along with Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, and Kim Byung-soo, Mayor of Gimpo, visited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and met with Minister Won Hee-ryong to express the opinion that the plan to reform the cash support method for the airport noise countermeasure project should reflect the inflation rate when supporting the installation of air conditioners and electricity bills.
The joint petition delivered that day included the following points: ▲ The cash support amount for air conditioning installation costs should consider the inflation rate so that it is not reduced compared to the current direct installation costs ▲ Electricity bills need to be adjusted to reflect increases in electricity rates, as support is provided to residents who close windows and live with noise damage during the summer ▲ The support for air conditioner installation and electricity bills should be treated as part of resident livelihood support funds, and the inflation rate should be reflected when revising the “Airport Noise Prevention Act.”
In response, Minister Won Hee-ryong of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated that the reform plan would be actively reviewed to ensure it benefits residents.
Mayor Moon Heon-il of Guro-gu said, “I hope that the realities are sufficiently reflected in the airport noise damage support project,” and added, “We will continue to listen to the difficulties of local residents affected by noise damage and strive to provide effective support.”
