Discussion on Current Issues and Tasks for Eulji Exercise Exhibition

Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held a discussion on the '2023 Eulji Exercise Wartime Issues' in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the county office.

The wartime issues discussion is a practical discussion-type exercise that selects discussion topics reflecting the characteristics of each institution among various types of issues that may arise in emergencies.

On the 22nd, Uiryeong-gun conducted a discussion on comprehensive measures in response to the introduction of pathogens causing a mass infection outbreak at Burim Water Purification Plant, a key facility for water supply in the eastern region.

Uiryeong County conducted a practical response drill assuming an outbreak of a cluster infection at a water purification plant.

In particular, the discussion was attended by all local institutions including civilian, government, military, police, and fire departments to establish a cooperative system for enhancing emergency response capabilities and protection functions, engaging in a heated debate. The session proceeded in the order of situation explanation, institution-specific status and countermeasure presentations, and comprehensive discussion.

The discussion focused on damage recovery measures assuming that enemy special forces infiltrated Burim Water Purification Plant and introduced a large amount of pathogens causing a mass infectious disease outbreak, resulting in damage to the purification plant facilities and multiple casualties.

Participants listened to presentations from each institution and sought response plans and support measures to minimize damage. Comprehensive opinions were exchanged on measures to be taken in case of Burim Water Purification Plant contamination and overall water supply countermeasures, resident publicity measures to prevent the spread of the situation, water supply support measures, emergency treatment and relief measures for casualties, among others.

County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “For swift resolution of the situation, accurate information sharing and prompt preliminary actions are most important,” adding, “Let us strengthen cooperation among institutions until the end of the Eulji Exercise to enhance Uiryeong-gun’s crisis management capabilities.”
