Gyeongnam National University Holds Agreement and Launch Ceremony for Gyeongnam Defense Industry Workforce Development Council

Customized Professional Workforce Training for Defense Industry Companies
Priority Support for Current Students When Hiring Professionals

Gyeongnam National University held the ‘Gyeongnam Defense Industry Workforce Development Council Agreement and Inauguration Ceremony’ at the International Seminar Room on the 4th floor of the Gyeongnam National University Main Building.


On the 24th, Gyeongnam National University signed an agreement for the ‘Gyeongnam Defense Industry Workforce Development Council’ with Heo Geon-yeong, Director of the Defense Technology Quality Institute, Kang Chang-ho, Commander of the Army Comprehensive Maintenance Depot, and representatives of 15 local defense industry companies to secure global competitiveness in K-defense industry and enter the top four defense export countries.

Through the agreement, Gyeongnam National University promised ▲to cultivate demand-tailored advanced defense industry professionals ▲to cooperate in fostering the defense/defense industry ▲to collaborate on technology transfer, joint development research, and other advanced achievements ▲to establish and support the operation of an industry-academia-research cooperation sharing and collaboration platform ▲to support student field trips, internships, and employment assistance.


The Gyeongnam Defense Industry Workforce Development Council includes the Defense Technology Quality Institute, Army Comprehensive Maintenance Depot, and local representative defense industry companies such as iSpec, GSB Solution, KHT Korea Heat Treatment, STX Engine, Doowon Heavy Industries, Buguk Precision, Samwoo Metal Industry, Youngpoong Electronics, Wonjin M&T, KTE, Dongsung Electric, KSP, Taekwang Mecatech, Perstek, and Hanseong S&I.


Kang Jae-gwan, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation, said, “Through this agreement, the university will do its best to cultivate professionals who can lead the defense industry sector together with the council, and companies will cooperate in providing field training and joint workforce development. We hope for great interest and support from local parents and high school students applying for early admission.”


Park Tae-hyun, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, said, “The Department of Mechanical Engineering operates the KAI Track and LG Employment Connection Track, and will regularly operate the Gyeongnam Defense Industry Workforce Development Council to run joint industry-academia workforce development and the Gyeongnam Defense Industry Employment Track with local defense companies, doing its best to supply defense industry professionals who will strongly support the backbone of Gyeongnam’s defense industry.”
