Gmarket Shinsaegae Universe Members Fully Enjoyed Movie Discount Benefits

Food Delivery Usage Rate at 30%, Followed by
"Must-Claim 'Valuable' Benefits Every Month"

Hwang Seung-kwon (32, pseudonym), an office worker who joined the Shinsegae Universe Club through Gmarket, visits the cinema about once a month. Although movie ticket prices have risen significantly in recent years, increasing the financial burden, this is not a concern for Hwang. He recently watched movies for 5,000 won using the vertical benefits provided by Gmarket. Hwang said, "Even with card discounts, it's hard to watch a movie for this price," adding, "It's a very worthwhile benefit, so I plan to continue using it."

The most frequently used vertical benefits among Shinsegae Universe Club members on Gmarket were found to be 'movie ticket discounts' and 'food delivery discounts.' The Shinsegae Universe Club is a paid integrated membership of the Shinsegae Group, and Gmarket offers additional (vertical) benefits across various categories to members of this membership.

According to an analysis of vertical benefit usage rates by Gmarket for membership customers last month, the movie ticket discount had the highest usage rate at 33%. The food delivery discount benefit usage rate also reached 30%. This was followed by Smile Delivery discounts (22%) for next-day delivery products and fresh products purchased on Gmarket, and Smile Fresh discounts (13%).

The movie ticket discount is a benefit that provides a movie ticket worth 15,000 won for 5,000 won to membership members who meet the previous month's purchase amount condition. During the 'Club Week' promotion held last month without any purchase amount conditions, a whopping 120,000 movie tickets were sold in just eight days. The food delivery fee discount offers membership members two 2,000 won discount coupons daily, allowing up to 4,000 won off delivery fees per day.

Vertical benefits refer to preferential benefits provided as extras in specific categories such as ▲movie tickets ▲food delivery ▲Smile Delivery ▲Smile Fresh ▲airline tickets ▲books, in addition to the monthly basic discount coupons (up to 12% off, 4 types) given to membership members. As of last month, 22% of Gmarket Shinsegae Universe Club members enjoyed vertical benefits.

Mok Seung-won, Head of Marketing at Gmarket, said, "Although overshadowed by the main benefits and not well known, vertical benefits are among the highly satisfying membership benefits," adding, "Movie ticket and delivery fee discounts are considered must-have valuable benefits among membership customers in their 20s and 30s."

Meanwhile, the Shinsegae Universe Club is an integrated membership that offers benefits from six Shinsegae Group companies. With an annual fee of 30,000 won, it can be joined through Gmarket, E-Mart, SSG.com, Shinsegae Department Store, Starbucks, and Shinsegae Duty Free. Members can enjoy various discount benefits along with rewards worth about 30,000 won usable at the channel where they joined.
