Together GREEN Gwanak Green Leaders Realize Diverse and Innovative Carbon Neutrality Policies Including Paperless Work Processes and Transparent PET Bottle Deposit System
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is accelerating efforts to lead a culture of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life and to create a "Clean Living Space Gwanak."
First, the district is recruiting 15 clubs to participate in the resident-led "Together GREEN Gwanak Green Leaders," composed of residents interested in practicing carbon neutrality in their daily lives, and is continuing various activities.
Since starting activities in May, the clubs have been creating various carbon neutrality practices such as ▲spreading a culture of carbon neutrality in alleys (Kkummaeul Eco Baram) ▲educating students on practicing carbon neutrality in daily life (WE) ▲flea markets run by parents (Euncheon Mom Saem) ▲environmental education tools made from recyclables (Greendaol).
Among them, Kkummaeul Eco Baram held an energy festival that cools the summer heat with carbon-neutral energy.
At the energy festival held at a local children's park, many residents and children participated and experienced ▲making eco-friendly water pouches ▲making soap using EM activator ▲using solar collectors ▲recycling with paper bags, learning how to practice carbon neutrality. In particular, ▲cotton candy made with a bicycle pedal generator was very popular.
The district plans to gather the achievements of the clubs' activities and hold a "Carbon Neutrality Expo (tentative name)" in October to share with residents and reaffirm the commitment to continuous carbon neutrality practice.
Additionally, starting from September, the district will promote "paperless processing" in all contract-related tasks.
The existing contract method required companies contracting with the district to submit related documents twice to both the contract department and the project department, causing the inconvenience of preparing many paper documents.
Therefore, the district will completely switch the contract method to conduct tasks through electronic documents instead of paper documents from the bidding announcement to contract payment.
Paperless processing is expected to contribute not only to budget savings but also to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment by cutting down the use of at least about 250,000 sheets of paper annually.
Along with this, the district is pioneering various innovative policies such as ▲introducing the "Transparent PET Bottle Deposit System" to expand resource circulation, the first in Seoul ▲free distribution of "item-specific recycling bags" to improve separate collection in detached houses ▲"smart recycling collection boxes" to enhance recycling and reduce household waste.
Meanwhile, in March, the district introduced ESG policies to realize a sustainable city and held the "The ESG Gwanak Vision Proclamation Ceremony." The district will continue to do its best to realize "The ESG Gwanak."
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, "We will take the lead in creating a culture of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life together with neighbors so that our children, the leaders of future generations, can grow up healthy in a clean and pure living environment," and added, "We ask residents to actively participate in the culture of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life."
