Gyeonggi Office of Education Forms 2nd Supplementary Budget Increased by 678.2 Billion Won Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has prepared a second supplementary budget proposal that is 678.2 billion KRW larger than the first supplementary budget.

On the 24th, the Office announced that it had compiled the "2023 2nd Supplementary Budget for the Gyeonggi Provincial Education Special Account Revenue and Expenditure" and submitted it to the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.

This supplementary budget proposal amounts to 23.1195 trillion KRW, an increase of 678.2 billion KRW from the first supplementary budget of 22.4413 trillion KRW.

The proposal includes 33.8 billion KRW for the operation of the Yubo Integration (integration of early childhood education and childcare) initiative and 13.7 billion KRW for strengthening the protection of educational activities.

The operation cost for the Yubo Integration initiative is a budget to support meal expenses at daycare centers within the jurisdiction, following the Office’s selection as a leading education office for Yubo Integration by the Ministry of Education. The budget for strengthening the protection of educational activities will be used for forming a legal support team for teachers, installing recording phones, and operating student separation education programs.

In addition, the Office included budgets for ▲ establishing a future education system such as new school construction and improvement of educational environments (203.1 billion KRW) ▲ creating a healthy and safe educational environment including support for staff housing (27.3 billion KRW) ▲ supporting students in educational blind spots such as commuting support (7.3 billion KRW).

Seo Hye-jeong, Policy Planning Officer at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, explained, "This supplementary budget was prepared based on autonomy and balance, reflecting future education demands and inflation. In particular, by strengthening the protection of educational activities, we aim to enhance school educational capacity and provide high-quality, non-discriminatory education and care services through support for daycare meal expenses."
