Crown Haitai Confectionery Hosts 'Hangang Sculpture Project'... "Globalizing K-Sculpture"

To showcase the excellence of K-sculpture soaring towards the global art market, the theme of this year’s third Hangang Sculpture Project is ‘Walking the Hangang.’ About 100 sculptures that harmonize well with the beautiful scenery of the Hangang River will be installed. The entire Ttukseom Hangang Park will be transformed into one large installation art piece featuring large-scale works by 41 leading Korean sculptors (teams). This project is designed to deliver artistic inspiration to visitors through the beautiful harmony of the Hangang’s nature and the sculptures.

Since the vast Ttukseom Hangang Park spans about 200,000 pyeong, most of the sculptures are gigantic works with an average height of 10 meters and weight over 15 tons. To deeply convey the beauty of the Hangang experienced in the vast nature, about 20 works are exhibited under each of the five sub-themes: light, sound, wind, waves, and people.

Park Cheonnam, the general director overseeing the exhibition, said, “This is the world’s greatest outdoor sculpture museum where you can witness the status of Korean contemporary sculpture attracting global attention all in one place,” and added, “We hope to deliver the beautiful artistic inspiration of K-sculpture not only to overseas art professionals but also to many citizens.”
