Fire at 16-Story Apartment in Michuhol-gu, Incheon...1 Dead, 4 Injured

A fire broke out at an apartment in Incheon early in the morning, resulting in 1 death and 4 injuries.

According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 23rd, the fire occurred at around 3:57 a.m. on the 13th floor of a 16-story apartment building in Gwankyo-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.

One person died and two were injured in a unit on the 13th floor, which is presumed to be the point of origin of the fire. Male resident Mr. A inhaled smoke and was transported to a nearby hospital but passed away.

Female resident Ms. B, who lived in the same unit, was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest and is receiving treatment, while male resident Mr. C is undergoing treatment for consciousness impairment. Two other residents from different units were also transported to the hospital after inhaling smoke.

The fire authorities rescued 21 people, including the 5 casualties, and 32 residents evacuated on their own. Responding to a report from a resident on the 12th floor, the fire department deployed 27 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and 87 firefighters, extinguishing the fire completely within 34 minutes.

The fire department is investigating the exact cause of the fire, which is believed to have started inside a unit on the 13th floor of the apartment.
