Revitalization of Low-Income Households in Damaged and Dead Trees Areas

Trees damaged by natural disasters such as typhoons and heavy rains, which are difficult to dispose of, are being transformed into household furniture for low-income residents.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it will support customized household furniture made from damaged and dead trees for low-income residents in the area.

The district plans to contribute to creating a carbon-reduction city by recycling discarded wood and realize the value of 'walking with the vulnerable' by producing customized furniture for low-income residents instead of spending a separate budget on disposal.

The support targets a total of five low-income households residing in Dobong-gu, including single-parent and multi-child families, selected through recommendations from local community centers.

The main supported furniture includes everyday household items such as dining tables, desks, bookshelves, dressers, and storage cabinets. After visiting the homes of the recipients, consultations on items and measurements will be conducted before providing support.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “I hope that discarded trees reborn as wooden furniture can bring hope to low-income households. The district will continue to actively develop and promote ways to use useless resources more valuably.”
