Jungkook's 'Seven' Tops Billboard 'Global 200' and 'Global' for 5 Consecutive Weeks
V's 'Love Me Again' Enters 'Hot 100' at No. 96
Group BTS member Jungkook's solo debut song "Seven" has topped the US Billboard "Global 200" and "Global" (excluding the US) charts for five consecutive weeks.
According to Billboard chart preview articles on the 21st (local time), "Seven" recorded 104.3 million streams, down 7% from the previous week, and 4,000 sales, down 9%, from November 11 to 17, maintaining its number one position for the fifth week.
"Seven" became the second song this year to top the chart for more than five weeks, following Miley Cyrus's "Flowers."
"Seven" is a refreshing summer song expressing the passion to be with a loved one all week long. With this song, Jungkook reached the top of the US Billboard main singles chart "Hot 100" last month.
BTS member V (Kim Taehyung)'s first solo album "Layover" pre-release track "Love Me Again" also entered the US Billboard main singles chart "Hot 100."
"Love Me Again," released by V on the 11th, debuted at number 96 on the "Hot 100" dated the 26th. This is V's second time entering the "Hot 100" as a solo artist. Last year, V ranked 79th on the "Hot 100" with the OST "Christmas Tree" from the SBS TV drama "Our Beloved Summer."
Another pre-release track from "Layover," the alternative pop R&B genre song "Rainy Days," ranked 4th on the "Top-Selling Songs" chart.
"Love Me Again" and "Rainy Days" entered the Billboard Global (excluding the US) chart at 6th and 8th place respectively, both making it into the top 10. V is the first K-pop solo artist to have two songs simultaneously in the top 10 of this chart.
"Love Me Again" is an R&B genre song based on the 1970s soul sound, incorporating gospel and jazz elements. V infused the song with a dreamy atmosphere and lingering impression through his rhythmic and charming low tones.
V will release "Layover" at 1 PM on the 8th of next month. The music video for the title track "Slow Dancing" is also scheduled to be released at the same time.
