LG Electronics Unveils 'LG Signature Washer-Dryer' at IFA 2023

LG Electronics introduces a solution that handles both washing and drying with a single operation.

LG Electronics announced on the 21st that it will unveil the 'LG SIGNATURE Washer-Dryer' at IFA 2023, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, held in Berlin, Germany, starting next month on the 1st.

The LG SIGNATURE Washer-Dryer is a product that combines a large-capacity drum washing machine with an inverter heat pump dryer. The washing and drying capacities are 25kg and 13kg, respectively. Additionally, a 4kg capacity mini wash unit is installed at the bottom of the product, allowing for separate washing of delicate garments, functional clothing, underwear, and children's clothes.

LG Electronics developed the new product reflecting customer feedback such as "I wish the laundry would automatically move to the dryer after washing" and "I want to use a dryer but have no space to install one." With the LG SIGNATURE Washer-Dryer, customers can complete both washing and drying with a single appliance, and once washing is finished, drying starts automatically, eliminating the household chore of transferring laundry from the washer to the dryer.

For this product, LG Electronics newly developed a dedicated heat pump drying module for washer-dryers. The inverter heat pump drying method operates using a low-temperature dehumidification process that circulates refrigerant to generate heat, which absorbs only the moisture contained in the laundry, making it advantageous for fabric protection. Furthermore, inverter technology is applied to control the motor speed, operating only as much as needed depending on the situation, resulting in high energy efficiency. In other words, compared to heater-type drying, it reduces electricity consumption and optimizes drying performance.

In addition, the product is equipped with an AI DD motor to implement LG washing appliances' unique 6-motion washing and drying. Customers can conveniently open the door by lightly touching a specific part of the door or by voice command through the 'Smart Touch Door' feature. The 7-inch wide LCD screen on the front of the product integrates control of all functions of the washer, dryer, and mini wash unit.

The new product will be launched as a UP appliance, allowing continuous addition of new features through upgrades via the LG ThinQ app's UP Appliance Center. It is scheduled to be released domestically within the year, with the shipment price yet to be determined. LG Electronics plans to gradually expand sales regions after the domestic launch.
