The pumped-storage power plant is a large-scale national project worth over 2 trillion won, and during the 10-year construction period, thousands of construction-related workers will be active in the region, revitalizing the local economy. More than 1.4 billion won in local taxes will be secured annually, and upon completion, about 150 new jobs will be created.

Additionally, Yeongyang-gun plans to do its best to build various tourism infrastructures by creating the nation's largest tourism belt around the power plant.

The Lions Club participating in this challenge has a history of 53 years and has always taken the lead in various volunteer activities, including helping underprivileged neighbors in the region, repairing houses for vulnerable groups, assisting with farm labor, and donating scholarships. Notably, recently, when they learned that the family of Mr. Choi (wife and son) living in Sinpyeong-ri, Seokbo-myeon, was at risk of forced discharge from the hospital due to unpaid medical bills for mental illness treatment, the members collectively raised and donated 1.5 million won for medical expenses.

County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “I sincerely thank all the members and families of the Yeongyang Lions Club who have been quietly volunteering in the region, not only for participating in the pumped-storage power plant attraction but also for their hard work. I ask all residents to unite firmly and join together to prevent the crisis of regional extinction through this pumped-storage power plant attraction activity.”
