A man in his 30s who stalked his ex-girlfriend and wildly wielded a weapon faces a heavy sentence for 'attempted murder'

Went to Ex-Girlfriend's Office After Reporting Stalking

The prosecution has requested the court to impose a heavy sentence on a man in his 30s who, harboring resentment after being investigated by the police for stalking, violently attacked his ex-girlfriend with a weapon, causing injuries.

On the 17th, at the sentencing trial held by the Criminal Division 1 of the Busan District Court Seobu Branch (Chief Judge Lee Jin-jae), the prosecution demanded a 20-year prison sentence for Mr. A, who was charged with attempted murder.

According to the prosecution, Mr. A is accused of striking the head of a woman in her 30s, Ms. B, with a blunt object and then stabbing her multiple times in the chest with a weapon at an office in Seo-gu, Busan, around 5 p.m. on March 2. He is also accused of injuring a colleague of Ms. B who tried to intervene.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A continuously contacted his ex-girlfriend Ms. B, and after she reported him to the police for stalking, he committed the crime out of resentment.

After Ms. B notified him of their breakup in February, Mr. A repeatedly stalked her by visiting her home and continuing to contact her.

The prosecution stated that Mr. A had premeditated the murder by preparing the weapons in advance and declared, "We will strictly respond to retaliatory crimes that have a high risk of escalating into serious offenses."
