Bus Driver in Changwon Saves Woman Chased by Threatening Drunkard Saying "Please Open the Door"

"Attempted to Take a Taxi but Was Refused... Relieved Because of the Bus"

A bus driver in Changwon, Gyeongnam, is receiving praise after a story emerged about how he saved a woman who was being chased by a drunk person.

According to Changwon City on the 17th, a post titled "Thank you to the Changwon 3006 bus driver for saving me in an emergency" was uploaded on the city hall website's 'Continuing Praise' board on the 15th.

The author, Mr. Lee, opened by saying, "I wanted to express my gratitude to the Changwon 3006 bus driver who saved me in an emergency, so I wrote this post."

According to the post, Mr. Lee went out for a walk in front of his house around 9:30 a.m. on the 15th. During this time, a man began following him and aggressively approached him. The man was reportedly intoxicated.

Mr. Lee explained the situation, saying, "At first, I thought he might be asking for directions, but then he started pointing his finger at me and aggressively approached me. I tried to run away, but the pedestrian signal was red, so I couldn't cross, and there was no one else on the street. It was a major road with only passing cars."

At that moment, Mr. Lee spotted a taxi stopped on the main road to drop off a passenger and immediately tried to get in. However, the intoxicated man continued to chase him, and the taxi's rear door would not open. Mr. Lee said, "There was a female passenger holding a child inside, and maybe sensing something was wrong, she did not get out. I kept knocking and asking to open the door."

Mr. Lee then found another taxi and tried to get in, but was refused again. He said, "I ran to another crosswalk and saw a taxi with its lights off. I told the driver, 'A stranger is chasing me. Please open the door,' but he did not open it and just waved his hand and left." He added, "At that time, there was some distance between me and the man chasing me, so the driver might not have realized it was a dangerous situation."

Afterwards, Mr. Lee spotted a bus waiting at a traffic signal and explained his situation, and fortunately was able to board the bus. He said, "The man chasing me came up to the bus door, but the driver did not open it. The driver dropped me off at the next stop, and I safely got home. I didn't even think about paying the fare, and when I got off, I checked the bus number and it was 3006."

The bus's black box footage captures the tense moment. According to the video released by KNN, Mr. Lee ran up to the stopped bus, urgently knocking on the door and saying, "A stranger is chasing me." The bus driver immediately opened the door and let him in. Meanwhile, the man was seen wandering on the road and approaching the bus.

Mr. Lee said, "I was so flustered that I couldn't properly thank the driver, so I am leaving this message. I do not blame the two taxi drivers, but in this situation, the only one who opened the door was the bus driver. I thank him once again."
