Pohang City held a final briefing session on the 16th to prepare for the successful hosting of the ‘2023 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo,’ which will be held over three days from September 7 to 9.

On this day, more than 30 participants attended, including the host organizations Gyeongbuk Province and Pohang City, the organizing institution Gyeongbuk Technopark, as well as Pohang Technopark, POSTECH Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Daegu Haany University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute, East Sea Industrial Research Institute, Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Research Institute, and Yale Communications (event agency).

At the final briefing, they discussed and conducted on-site inspections of flawless event preparation plans, including ▲event plans such as the opening ceremony and theme performances ▲personnel deployment ▲parking and safety management measures ▲facility and exhibition hall construction plans ▲and conference operation plans.

The ‘2023 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo,’ themed ‘Biotechnology for a Better Tomorrow,’ will take place at the POSCO International Pavilion and Change Up Ground area. Starting with the opening event, the expo will feature a variety of programs including the exhibition, international symposium and conference, new technology presentations, and corporate investment and export consultations.

In particular, led by the keynote speech of Professor Luke P. Lee from Harvard Medical School, over 80 distinguished domestic and international figures in the bio field will conduct in-depth presentations and discussions on various sectors of the bio industry, including accelerator-based new drug development international symposium, green bio industry international conference, pharmaceutical industry, beauty industry, electronic medical care, hemp industry, and marine bio industry conference.

At the Change Up Ground area, an expo involving various related organizations including industry, academia, research, and government will offer diverse experiences and attractions. Through the new technology presentations, local bio companies and students will showcase their creative ideas and future visions. Additionally, an investment and export consultation meeting involving domestic and international investors will be held, which is expected to revitalize the local bio industry through direct and indirect investment attraction.

Kwon Hyuk-won, Director of the Job and Economy Bureau, stated, “The 2023 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo is an opportunity to showcase Pohang City’s excellent bio infrastructure and bio industry capabilities,” adding, “We will do our best to prepare thoroughly so that this event becomes an opportunity for the local bio industry to take another leap forward through solid event preparation and safety accident countermeasure inspections.”
