Medium Taxi Base Fare Up 700 Won, Large Taxi Up 1000 Won

The base fare for mid-sized taxis in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will be raised from 3,300 won to 4,000 won starting next month on the 1st.

The Goryeong-gun Price Countermeasure Committee gathered various opinions from residents, experts, and the taxi industry, and decided to increase the base fare according to the fare standards adjusted last month by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, while maintaining the current surcharge rates. This adjustment of taxi fares in Goryeong-gun is the first in four years since 2019.

The base fare for mid-sized taxis will increase by 700 won from 3,300 won to 4,000 won, and the distance covered by the base fare will be reduced from 2 km to 1.6 km.

The distance fare will be raised from 100 won per 134 meters after 2 km to 100 won per 131 meters, and the time fare will increase from 100 won per 33 seconds to 100 won per 31 seconds.

For large taxis, the base fare will increase by 1,000 won from 4,500 won to 5,500 won, the distance fare will be raised from 200 won per 138 meters after 2 km to 200 won per 114 meters, and the time fare will increase from 200 won per 33 seconds to 200 won per 27 seconds.

Additionally, the late-night surcharge (20%) period, which was previously from midnight (0:00) to 4:00 a.m., will be extended by one hour to run from 11:00 p.m. the previous day to 4:00 a.m. However, the out-of-service area surcharge (20%), combined surcharge (63%), and call usage fee (1,000 won) will remain unchanged.

A Goryeong-gun official stated, “This taxi fare increase follows the adjustment of taxi fare and rate standards by Gyeongbuk Province, and we plan to manage it so that the fare adjustment leads to improved working conditions for taxi drivers.”
