Yeongdeungpo-gu Recreational Sports Facility Replaces Masato with Artificial Turf Artificial turf installed Yangpyeong Nuri Sports Park soccer field

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will renovate the masato surfaces of the tennis courts at Daerim Sports Complex and the jokgu courts under Omokgyo Bridge with artificial turf so that residents can safely enjoy recreational sports.

The tennis courts at Daerim Sports Complex had aging facilities and masato flooring, which caused dust and continuous safety accidents such as fractures and abrasions. Additionally, the jokgu courts under Omokgyo Bridge experienced inconvenience due to masato being washed away during heavy summer rains caused by river flooding and poor drainage.

Accordingly, the district will replace the masato-paved tennis and jokgu courts with artificial turf for the health and safety of residents, and will also refurbish auxiliary convenience facilities.

First, four tennis courts at Daerim Sports Complex will be covered with artificial turf, and facilities such as posts and nets will be maintained to transform them into pleasant tennis courts. Furthermore, two new team benches will be installed to enhance user convenience, and safety fences will be installed to prevent tennis balls from going outside, ensuring safety.

The four masato jokgu courts located under Omokgyo Bridge on Anyangcheon Stream will also be replaced with artificial turf. Additionally, drainage plates and drainage pipes will be newly installed to minimize flood damage by preventing overflow during rainy weather.

The replacement of artificial turf at the tennis and jokgu courts is expected to be completed by the end of August and returned to the residents.

Moreover, the district is accelerating the creation of sports facilities where all generations, from children to seniors, can enjoy recreational sports together. The Daerim 3 Yusuji Comprehensive Sports Facility, scheduled for completion in 2026, will be a four-story building housing a swimming pool, alternative gymnasium, and spectator rooms.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We hope residents will enjoy sports activities more safely at the newly renovated sports facilities with artificial turf,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a safe and pleasant environment for residents’ leisure activities and health promotion.”
