This annual policy meeting was held in accordance with the contents of the ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in the Field of Airport Dispute Management between Shilla University College of Aviation and the Air Force Headquarters Policy Office’ signed last year.
Deputy Director Ryu Chi-sung of the Air Force Headquarters Policy Office stated, “We will actively support the agreed educational programs within the possible scope and will also consider ways for Shilla University to participate in the Air Force Headquarters Policy Office’s conflict management (airport dispute management) workshops.”
Professor Lee Doo-hyung of the Department of Air Traffic Management at Shilla University explained, “Once the new Gadeokdo Airport opens, the Busan area will operate two international airports including Gimhae International Airport, which may increase various conflicts and disputes related to airports, so it is necessary to train specialized personnel who can resolve these issues.”
He added, “We will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Air Force Headquarters Policy Office, a specialized organization in this field, to cultivate professional personnel.”
Shilla University College of Aviation is the first in Korea to offer major courses in conflict management such as Airport Dispute Management Theory and Airport Dispute Resolution and Negotiation in its undergraduate program. It is the only aviation college in the southeastern region composed of five departments: Aviation Operation, Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Service, Air Logistics, and Air Traffic Management. Additionally, it established the Department of Aircraft Mechanical Engineering this year and is recruiting new students for the 2024 academic year.
