Changnyeong-gun Holds Meeting of Regional Mental Health Crisis Response Council

For Crisis Response in Mental Health of Residents, Public and Private Sectors Join Forces Together

On the 11th, Changnyeong-gun in Gyeongnam announced that it held the 3rd regional council meeting for public-private cooperation in mental health crisis response at the Changnyeong-gun Mental Health Welfare Center to effectively respond to mental health-related crisis and emergency situations within the local community.

The mental health crisis response regional council, composed of the Mental Health Welfare Center, psychiatric medical institutions, police, and fire departments, plays a role in immediate intervention and linking treatment support in crisis situations involving individuals with mental illnesses.

At this meeting, measures to strengthen the management system for high-risk mental illness patients and prevent unauthorized departures from psychiatric medical institutions were discussed to proactively respond to nationwide incidents of stabbing crimes and unauthorized absences from psychiatric facilities.

The Changnyeong-gun Public Health Center Mental Health Welfare Center conducts symptom and medication management individually to prevent recurrence among subjects and promotes case management to connect with mental health promotion facilities. In addition, it operates various rehabilitation programs once a week to help their social adaptation, doing its best in managing patients with mental illnesses.

Park Jeongsuk, director of the Changnyeong-gun Mental Health Welfare Center, stated, “We will strive to strengthen the community mental health safety net by establishing an effective mental emergency response system through organic cooperation with related organizations.”
