Jungnang-gu 'Donghaeng Pet Photo' Contest

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) is hosting the “Companion Pet Photo Contest,” capturing happy daily lives with animals, until August 29.

The district explained that as interest in pets grows, this photo contest was organized to allow both pet owners and non-pet owners to share everyday moments with their companion animals.

The theme of the contest is ‘Creating a Happy Companion Culture for People and Animals Together,’ and participants are free to capture happy moments with their pets in photos. However, pets are limited to dogs and cats.

Any Jungnang-gu resident who loves animals can participate. Each person may submit up to one entry, and applications along with required documents should be sent via email to the person in charge.

The submission must be a digital image (JPEG) taken with a phone or camera, under 10MB in size, and at least 2000×3000 pixels. Duplicate, similar works, computer graphic images, and composite photos are not allowed.

Results will be announced in early September on the Jungnang-gu Office and Jungnang-gu Public Health Center websites. After judging by internal and external committee members, a total of 22 winners will be selected: ▲Grand Prize (1 person) ▲Excellence Award (1 person) ▲Special Award (5 people) ▲Honorable Mention (15 people). The grand prize winner will receive a prize including a hotel stay voucher for pet owners with dogs.

Notably, the winning works will be exhibited at the ‘2023 Jungnang-gu Companion Culture Concert’ scheduled for September this year and are expected to be used in promotional materials for animal welfare in Jungnang-gu.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “By sharing precious daily lives and experiences with pets captured in photos with non-pet owners, we expect this to contribute to establishing a proper companion animal culture,” adding, “We will continue to make efforts to promote various animal welfare projects that many residents can enjoy together.”
