Additional Disposable Items Such as Massage Chairs and Stone Beds from August 10
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that starting August 10, the list of large waste items will be expanded and specifications will be subdivided to alleviate residents' inconvenience and improve convenience.
The district had established fee imposition standards for each large household waste item under the "Seoul Special City Dongdaemun-gu Waste Management Ordinance," but there were many inquiries from residents regarding disposal methods for items not specified in the ordinance.
Accordingly, the district revised the ordinance to add large waste fee items and subdivide existing item specifications so that residents can dispose of large household waste more cheaply and easily.
With this ordinance revision, the number of disposable large household waste items increased from 111 to 120, and 24 additional specifications were added, subdividing the total to 210.
In particular, items that were previously difficult to dispose of, such as massage chairs and stone beds, have been newly added to the list of disposable items to enable residents to use the service conveniently. The new fee imposition standards will be applied from August 10.
A Dongdaemun-gu official said, "Until now, the limited waste sticker items caused significant inconvenience to residents who had to attach stickers for similar items," and added, "We hope that this reorganization of large waste disposal items will help residents dispose of waste properly and contribute to improving resource recycling rates."
Large household waste disposal applications can be made at the nearest community service center regardless of the resident's dong (neighborhood). For those who find it difficult to visit in person, applications can be made 24 hours by searching 'Yeogiro' online or by installing the mobile app 'Yeogiro.'
