Participation in the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip'
Featuring Shafer, Cono Sur, Two Hands, Federico Paternina, and more
Hosted by Asia Economy, the '2023 Global Wine and Food Trip' will be held on August 25-26 at the Floating Island on Sebitseom in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Major domestic wine importers and food companies will participate, providing an opportunity to taste a variety of regional wines and enjoy food pairings.
Shinsegae L&B will participate in this Global Wine and Food Trip, showcasing wines from renowned wineries such as Robert Mondavi, Shafer Vineyards, Cono Sur, Two Hands, and Federico Paternina.
Shinsegae L&B 'Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon'
The flagship product is the ‘Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon.’ This wine features a deep and rich ruby color with soft, well-ripened tannins, presenting a medium-bodied profile. Upon opening, aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberry, and cassis blend with notes of cigar box, black pepper, vanilla, toasted oak, and French roast coffee. It pairs well with grilled meats, pasta, and strongly flavored cheeses.
The wine undergoes skin contact after fermentation to develop complex aromas and a smooth tannin texture, with 100% malolactic fermentation adding softness and depth. It is also aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels, contributing to its toasty character. Alongside the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shinsegae L&B will present the ‘Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay,’ which was the official sponsor wine of the 2023 Bucheon Fantastic International Film Festival. Additionally, limited-time tastings of ‘Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Two Calhouns’ and ‘Shafer Relentless 2018’ will be offered.
Two Hands’ Picture Series ‘Angels Share Shiraz’ will also be featured. This wine offers intense aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and plum, with subtle hints of white pepper. It exemplifies the classic style of Shiraz from the McLaren Vale region, with a rich yet silky texture. The concentrated flavors reminiscent of blueberry pie, finely rounded tannins, and a long finish with notes of dried herbs and sweet spices can be enjoyed.

The wine is made using juice obtained through maceration combined with juice from subsequent pressing. It undergoes 12 months of oak aging, mostly in French and American oak barrels aged 1 to 6 years, with about 6% aged in new French oak barrels. It can be enjoyed fresh or aged for an additional 5 to 10 years from the vintage, depending on preference.
Sparkling wines such as ‘Saint Clair Vicar’s Choice Sauvignon Blanc Bubbles,’ ‘Canti Moscato Familia IGT,’ and ‘Federico Cava Brut’ will also be introduced. Among these, the Cava Brut from Spain’s Federico Paternina is a sparkling wine with 11.5% alcohol content, blended from 40% Xarel-lo, 30% Macabeo, and 30% Parellada grapes. The grapes are carefully harvested from selected vineyards in the Cava DO region and produced using the traditional Champagne method. Bottling, secondary fermentation, and aging take place in cellars located in the heart of the Cava region before release.
The wine displays a bright straw color and delicate, fine bubbles resulting from secondary fermentation and aging. It offers clean citrus aromas and subtle floral notes, with excellent acidity that refreshes the palate. When chilled to 6°C, it pairs well with lightly sauced chicken, fresh salads, mild seafood dishes, tomato sauce pasta, and various types of tapas.
