Genitics is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being influenced by the news that domestic Near Field Communication (NFC) technology has been established as an international standard.
As of 10:52 AM on the 11th, Genitics is trading at 1,526 KRW, up 7.09% compared to the previous day.
The day before, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced that the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has officially established the standard for the Internet of Things (IoT) low-power communication technology, ‘NFC-based Internet Communication Technology’ (RFC 9428), as an international standard. This standard is an independent technology originally held by ETRI’s Standards Research Division, the first in the world.
NFC has mainly been used for communication between nearby devices or equipment and has not been used as a technology for wide-range Internet communication. In everyday life, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies are commonly used to communicate over relatively wide wireless signal ranges.
However, by applying the standard RFC 9428 developed by ETRI, it is possible to use the Internet even in near-field wireless communication environments. Since communication occurs within a narrow radio wave range of about 10 cm, there is less risk of hacking compared to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Meanwhile, Genitics mass-produces semiconductors for NFC-based payment methods. Genitics is the first domestic company to develop NFC-based semiconductors using MST. Since Samsung Electronics adopted the MST method for Samsung Pay, Genitics’ MST IC products have been used in Samsung Electronics smartphones since 2016.
