Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is presiding over the department heads meeting at the provincial government multipurpose hall on the 9th.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon repeatedly urged all provincial offices and departments, the 31 cities and counties within the province, universities, private companies, and public facilities to prepare thoroughly so that the Jamboree participants staying in Gyeonggi Province can leave with good memories and experiences.
At the directors' meeting held on the 9th in the multipurpose conference room of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, Governor Kim said, "We have accommodated the largest number of (overseas Jamboree) participants in Gyeonggi Province," adding, "Currently, provincial staff are deployed by facility, but health, medical care, and fire services must also be carefully managed. Please ensure there are no gaps in safety measures for the Jamboree participants, not only against typhoons but also food poisoning and health issues."
He continued, "We must warmly welcome the Jamboree participants who have come to Gyeonggi Province and work together so that they can have good memories and experiences."
Accordingly, on the afternoon of the 9th, Gyeonggi Province held a performance by the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra for Scout participants at the Gyeonggi Arts Center located in Suwon City. The 80-minute performance featured traditional Korean music and orchestral pieces.
At the Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum in Gwangju, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the same day, a 'Hand Painting Using Traditional Patterns' program was conducted for 68 Scout participants from Tunisia.
On the 10th, Gyeonggi Province will also hold multicultural choir performances and other events for Scout participants using Dodamso (the former Gyeonggi Governor's official residence), a communication space for Gyeonggi residents.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon mentioned recent incidents such as the stabbing rampage in Bundang and a worker entrapment accident at a bakery, urging that residents' safety issues be addressed as the highest priority.
Governor Kim said, "Due to last year's Itaewon tragedy, the recent Osong underground passage incident caused by heavy rain, so-called random crimes within Gyeonggi Province, and worker entrapment accidents, the public and residents are currently very anxious. I hope that the safety of residents will be the top priority in provincial administration with a united effort. Especially, public institutions should take the lead and do their utmost to eliminate any safety negligence."
