Service robot company RGT announced on the 9th that its serving robot 'SIRBOT' can now be used across different floors of a building.
RGT applied a program that can interface with elevators and automatic doors, greatly expanding the operational range from single-floor movement to vertical movement within buildings. This enables the provision of services tailored to the three-dimensional environments of multi-story buildings such as hotels, smart buildings, apartments, and hospitals. Following positive feedback from beta services conducted in hotels and apartments, supply contracts have been signed.
SIRBOT can freely navigate buildings requiring inter-floor movement through integration with elevators. It can board elevators and deliver items autonomously without human assistance. Integration with automatic doors is also expected to significantly expand SIRBOT’s range of use. RGT’s patented technology improves the weaknesses of LiDAR sensors, which are sensitive to light reflections from transparent materials like glass and lighting, enabling stable autonomous navigation even in buildings with many transparent automatic doors and glass windows.
An RGT representative stated, “Through integration with elevators and automatic doors, SIRBOT can now operate in more complex environments,” adding, “We will continue to expand our service areas by enabling delivery right to the door through automatic door access and inter-floor movement.”
Meanwhile, RGT is supplying SIRBOT to various service industries beyond the food service sector. SIRBOT’s service areas include sports facilities such as screen golf courses, gyms, and Pilates studios; lifestyle convenience facilities like complex shopping malls; leisure facilities such as PC rooms and karaoke rooms; as well as nursing care facilities.
