Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Visits and Inspects Army Academy Dormitory for World Jamboree Participants
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, visited the dormitory of the Army Academy at 5 p.m. on the 8th, where the participants of the World Jamboree will be staying, to inspect the site. He then held an emergency meeting with the Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Korea and the principal of the Army Academy.
On the same day, a total of 411 Jamboree participants (400 Czech nationals and 11 Venezuelan nationals), who departed from Saemangeum, Jeonbuk at 10 a.m., headed to Seoul and will stay at the Army Academy dormitory located in Nowon District starting that evening.
In response to the government’s request for this national event, the district promptly took action and held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the morning of the 8th to ensure thorough preparations to provide the participants with memorable experiences during their remaining schedule.
The emergency meeting held on-site was attended by the district mayor, Roman Masarik, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic Embassy in Korea, Lieutenant General Kwon Young-ho, Principal of the Army Academy, Brigadier General Kim Soon-su, Dean of Faculty, Brigadier General Yoon Ki-jung, Commander of Cadets, and officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Welfare Policy Office and Self-Support Division.
Before the participants’ arrival, Mayor Oh personally visited the Army Academy to check convenience facilities such as showers and restrooms, and conveyed the preparations for various programs, meals, safety systems, and medical support, promising wholehearted assistance.
Roman Masarik, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic Embassy in Korea, who attended the meeting, expressed gratitude, saying, “I was surprised by the variety of programs prepared despite the tight schedule.”
Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “As this is a national event, we will spare no effort in utilizing all available resources to provide support,” and added, “I hope the 411 Jamboree participants will leave with great memories from the cultural city of Nowon.”
