On the afternoon of the 8th, 400 Taiwanese youths who participated in the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree will enter the Korea University dormitory in Anam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, to use it as a temporary accommodation.
Seongbuk-gu announced that day, "The Taiwanese youths will move into the Korea University dormitory to leave behind the disappointment of the early departure from the Jamboree and create good memories of Korea." Lee Seung-ro, the mayor of Seongbuk-gu, activated an emergency response team and urged Seongbuk-gu, Korea University, the fire station, and the police to cooperate closely to thoroughly inspect the hygiene and safety of the accommodation site.
The controversial Jamboree ultimately saw participants leave the campsite due to the northward approach of Typhoon Khanun, and the participants are moving to eight cities and provinces including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Chungbuk. According to the Jamboree Organizing Committee, about 36,000 people from 156 countries are moving using 1,022 buses.
