According to the county on the 7th, recently, more than 360 Jamboree scouts from eight countries including South Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, and Ghana visited the Jeonbuk 119 Safety Experience Center and participated in various disaster response safety experience programs.
On this day, Governor Kim Kwan-young, along with Sim Min, the mayor of Imsil-gun, visited the Jeonbuk 119 Safety Experience Center and introduced the importance of safety education that protects the lives of oneself and family members in crisis situations encountered in disasters and daily life, as well as the programs of the 119 Safety Experience Center, the nation’s top experiential safety culture facility, to the Jamboree scouts.
Governor Kim also personally experienced the worst traffic accident scenario where a car flips over 360 degrees and overturns together with the Jamboree scouts.
Governor Kim said, “Imsil cheese is the first cheese region in South Korea, started 55 years ago by Father Ji Jeong-hwan from Belgium with two goats, and it is the best cheese brand. I hope you enjoy the special taste of Imsil cheese and have a pleasant time through the beneficial disaster response experience.”
Governor Kim and Mayor Sim visited each of the experience sites where 14 programs under three themes were being conducted, promoting South Korea, Jeonbuk, and Imsil to the scouts, and received great responses through fist bumps, badge pinning, and scarf exchanges.
At the 119 Safety Experience Center on this day, K-pop songs such as Gangnam Style and Dynamite were presented in the lobby for scouts waiting to experience the programs, creating a festive atmosphere where people from around the world became one.
As the music played, everyone enthusiastically stood up to dance or clap together, enjoying an ‘exciting waiting time’ with cheers.
Choi Yong-myung, director of the 119 Safety Experience Center, said, “More than 300 Jamboree scouts visit daily to receive education on how to respond to disasters and crisis situations. The response to playing K-pop during waiting and lunch times has been very enthusiastic.”
From now until the 10th, a total of 2,880 Jamboree scouts from 33 countries will visit the 119 Safety Experience Center over eight days, participating in comprehensive disaster experiences, aircraft safety experiences, emergency escape device experiences, crisis escape experiences, and water safety experiences that improve the ability to respond to water-related accidents such as ship escape, rapid current accidents, and drowning accidents.
The county is operating an on-site situation room for rapid response to emergencies, with active cooperation from Imsil Fire Station and Imsil Police Station, including ambulance and on-site patrol personnel and medical staff.
Additionally, about 130 volunteers, including university students, professors, public institution employees providing interpretation services, and members of the Imsil Volunteer Fire Brigade, are actively participating.
Mayor Sim Min said, “We will not let our guard down until the event ends to ensure that all Scout Jamboree participants visiting Imsil can have a safe and incident-free experience. We will do our best to promote Imsil to the world and help visitors take home many joyful memories.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk 119 Safety Experience Center is a new-concept safety play culture space enjoyed by the whole family, consisting of the nation’s largest comprehensive disaster experience center, the only children’s safety village exclusively for toddlers in Korea, the world’s first disaster situation mission completion experience site, and a theme-type safety plaza for families to enjoy together.
